Longsa Putu Menden condemns allegation

Mokokchung: The Longsa Village Council (LVC) has strongly condemned the baseless allegation against Alemtemshi Jamir IAS (Retd), former Chief Secretary of Nagaland, in some section of the media with regard to the selection of the new chief minister of Nagaland.

The Longsa Village Council in a press note issued by Chairman R. Lanu said that Alemtemshi Jamir IAS (Rtd) is a bonafide Longsa citizen who has served the Nagaland Government sincerely and dedicatedly for more than 30 years as an astute and honest bureaucrat. He has contributed his knowledge, wisdom and intellect for the development and welfare of the Naga people under whichever government he served during his long years of unblemished government service.

However, the LVC is disturbed to see the good name of our leader Alemtemshi Jamir IAS (Rtd) being unnecessarily and unwarrantedly drawn into the tussle for the post of the next chief minister. “This is nothing but just cheap propaganda to gain some political mileage for some vested interests, and the Longsa Vilage Council strongly censures such cheap political gimmick,” the stated the LVC.  Moreover, the Council said that bringing the issue of ‘Bedrock of Naga Society’ into the present context is utterly unwarranted. “The issue of ‘Bedrock of Naga Society’ is a closed chapter because our leader Alemtemshi Jamir washed his hands off from the booklet with the NSCN (IM) at Hebron Camp in the presence of the Ao Senden, the apex organization of the Ao community,” the Council clarified. While cautioning, the LVC said, “Bringing the issue of the ‘Bedrock of Naga Society’ into this issue is irrelevant and should not be repeated in the future.”

“In a time when the Naga people are working for peace and development in the Naga society, no group or individual should resort to spreading of rumors or cheap propaganda which will only lead to social unrest and distrust in the society, rather we should strive to work for the betterment of the Naga society as a whole,” the Council also added.
