Longsa Baptist Church centenary celebration culminates, adopts 3 point resolution
Longsa, January 17 (MExN): More than a thousand Longsa youths were inspired at the special youth service on Sunday when two speakers – Temjensangla NCS & Dr Awala Temshi – challenged the youths to be humble, know the Lord Jesus Christ and glorify God through their thoughts, speech and actions.
The special youth service was held at the Longsa Baptist Church as part of the Centenary celebration of LBC which was held from January 15-17.
Temjensangla, who is a Nagaland government administrator, who spoke on the topic – towards a new horizon – motivated and challenged the youths through the Biblical characters of Joseph and Samson. She said that Joseph was a simple ordinary man who believed in God while Samson was a gifted person but boastful person. Joseph rose from being a slave to a master, while Samson fell from being a hero to die at the hands of his enemies.
While urging the youths to be like the character of Joseph, Temjensangla asked the youths to live humble, fear the Lord and lead a life of integrity. She added that just like Joseph, if one has humility and faith in God, then however unfairly life treats him, the God will surely reward them and lead them towards a new horizon.
She also urged the youths to have a sense of humanity and ‘be truthful to God, truthful to oneself and truthful to one’s colleagues’. She further challenged the youths to first achieve something in life; otherwise, one cannot help others without having achieved anything.
Dr Awala Temshi - Administrator of Straightway Christian Mission Centre - who spoke on the topic, Witnessing Christ in one’s own field, said that to witness God, one should first know Him, love Him and own Him.
She pointed out that the world today with all its technological advancements has become a very fast paced world where we don’t even find space to witness God. In this regard, Dr Awala said that one can witness God through our ‘speech, our lifestyles, love, faith and purity of our life’.
Therefore, Dr Awala urged the youths to be always polite in speech, lead a clean lifestyle, have deep love for oneself, others and God, have faith in God and lead a pure and spiritual life.
Meanwhile, Missionary Tiyong Longkumer offered a special dedicatory prayer for the youths of Longsa and invoked God’s blessings on the Longsa village youths.
Earlier in the Sunday devotional service, the main speaker was Tsuknung, founder of Servanthood Bible College, Dimapur, who spoke on the theme of the centenary celebration, ‘Whetting the Kingdom of Light’.
