Dimapur June 21(MExN): In yet another instance of students and senior members of the society making a combined stand against social evils, the Longtsung Eloe (Women) Hoho and the Longtsung Village Students Union has instated a resolution that alcohol and drug peddlers as well as users would be fined an amount of Rs 1000 if found using or caught transacting the same; if a person is found culpable twice for the same offence he/she would be barred from the village for a term of two years. This notice comes as a resolution taken by the Hoho and the union at a joint meeting at the LVSU’s office recently, according to C Mhonsali Mozhui, Chairperson LEH, and N Mhabemo Mozhui, president LVSU.
Apart from the notice against illegal transactions by natives from the village area, both the Hoho and the union also warned that non-members of Longtsung village found/caught indulging in such aforementioned activities within the village’s area would be fined a sum of Rs 2000 apart from ‘other stern action’ as per existing resolutions.
Relatively, any Longtsung member found/caught stealing or transacting stolen articles would be fined a sum of Rs 1000 while non-members of Longtsung found indulging in such activity in the area would be fined a sum of Rs 1500. Further, those found/caught gambling in and around the village would be fined a sum of Rs 1000 while those found fighting/quarrelling and creating trouble in and around the area would be dealt with severely according to existing resolutions.
Both the Longtsung Eloe Hoho and the Longtsung Village Students Union, while strongly reaffirming their stands against social evils, appealed to all students and citizens to render their cooperation for the proper implementation of the stated resolutions.
