Longzang village VCC & VDB Secy accused of misappropriating funds

MON, MAY 12 (MExN): The Chairman and Secretary of Longzang village in Mon has alleged that “no developmental activities have taken place in the village” since the appointment of the present VCC and VDB. 

A press release from the Longzang Village Chairman, Kaiwang Konyak and Secretary, Tahmao Konyak alleged that “after the appointment of Aloh as VCC and Ngame as VDB Secretary in the year 2010 no developmental activities have taken place in the village.” 

It informed that the public of Longzang village filed an RTI application and “found that the sum of Rs 4,79,24,510 have been misused by them without any work.” “Through this we came to learn that the department and implementing authorities released the fund without verification reason best known to them,” the press release claimed.

It informed that the public approached the Deputy Commissioner, Mon and the Block Development Officer (BDO), Phomching on May 3 expressing grievances in written not to release the MGNREGA fund, “as the entire public is not pleased with the activities of releasing the fund and no development activities taking place in the village.”

It however informed that despite repeated appeals to the concerned authorities, “the voice of the public of Longzang Village has been ignored, releasing the fund and no work is done till date.”
