'Look forward to what God has in store for the Naga people'

Ato Kilonser, Michael Yeptho addresses the '76th Naga Independence Day' celebration of Akato Chophi-led NSCN (R) at an “undisclosed location” in Dimapur on August 14.

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The Akato Chophi-led NSCN (R) on August 14 commemorated the '76th Naga Independence Day' at an “undisclosed location” in Dimapur with Ato Kilonser, Michael Yeptho gracing the occasion as 'Chief Guest.' 

He unfurled the Naga Flag and received the guard of honour from the Naga Army, informed a press release from the MIP, Akato Chophi-led NSCN (R). 

During his speech, Yeptho called upon everyone to “once again be rejuvenated and to look forward, to what God has in store for the Nagas.”

He also led the gathering in extending utmost respects to “our fallen heroes who neither yielded nor succumbed to adversaries, but at all times stood their grounds,” the release said. 

The Deputy Kilonser of MRA (Ministry of Religious Affairs), Wenkai Konyak invoked God's blessings, followed by observing "Silent prayers in honour of Naga Martyrs,” while the presidential speech was delivered by the Kilo Kilonser, Nokrang Lanu Aier.

The celebration also featured songs from Vivi V Yepthomi who belted out the song 'Hero' and Toluvi Azanoqo, while vote of thanks was proposed by the Collective leader, Viniho Kiho.

The programme culminated with mass benediction, followed by 'Independence Day Ceremonial Feast,’ the release added.
