Kohima, February 18 (MExN): The Lotha Catholic Khümshüm Kohima (LCKK) will celebrate its Golden Jubilee on February 22 at the LCKK Community Hall, Peraciezie, Kohima, marking fifty years of faith, fellowship and service.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration will be led by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima, as the main celebrant. Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs), Yanthungo Martin Patton, will attend the programme as the special guest.
The Jubilee will be observed under the theme, “One in Christ, United in Mission,” reflecting the community’s emphasis on unity and collective responsibility in strengthening the Church’s mission.
As part of the celebration, the Jubilee flag will be hoisted by Rev Fr Matthew Mhabemo, Parish Priest of St Francis De Sales Church, Kohima. The Bishop will bless the Golden Jubilee monolith and grotto, following which the monolith will be formally unveiled by the Deputy Chief Minister.
The Bishop will also administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to 63 members of the community during the celebration.
According to the organising committee, the Lotha Catholic Khümshüm Kohima traces its origins to the early 1970s, when a small group of Catholic faithful, many of them government employees posted in Kohima, began gathering for fellowship. The community was formally established in 1976.
In preparation for the Jubilee, a series of spiritual retreats and prayer sessions have been organised to promote reflection, unity and renewal among members.
The community has invited Catholic faithful and well-wishers to join the celebration.
