WOKHA, FEBRUARY 17 (MExN): With the construction company TTC Infra India announcing to begin work at NH-2 immediately, the Lotha civil society organization has decided to extend the period of suspension of bandh along the National Highway under Wokha district.
With the expectation that the contractor would resume the abandoned works of the NH 2 from 72.4 km to 83.00 km, at an early date, the CSOs have conditionally resolved to extend the period of suspension of bandh, although subject to re-imposition, a press release received from the Joint Action Committee, Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Lotha Youth Hoho, Wokha Town Colonies Union, WDCC & Industry, WD VC Chairmen Association and AC Vehicles Association, WD informed.
It also assured that the Lotha organisations will co-operate with and safeguard the workers and warned of action against anyone harassing the workers in anyway.
It, meanwhile, urged all concerned to extend their support to the CSOs, govt authorities and the contractor for implementing the road project work as per specifications. The National Highway supervisory officials were also asked to be at work site round the clock, unlike in the past, which necessitated the CSOs to involve themselves, it added.
