DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 10 (MExN): The Lotha Eloe Hoho has condemned what it termed as the recent misuse of the traditional Lotha male shawl Thanrhup by one Agou Hengoulal Sitlhou and his team.
The Lotha Eloe Hoho emphasized that traditional attire, including the male shawl, carries deep cultural significance. Such garments symbolize respect for ancestors, heritage, social status, and identity, especially during festivals and traditional occasions. The misrepresentation in question has been viewed as an act of cultural insensitivity that threatens the preservation and proper understanding of Lotha traditions.
The organization issued a caution to the concerned individual and team to immediately delete the viral video from social media platforms to prevent further false representations. Moreover, the Hoho made it clear that any future misuse of traditional attire will not be tolerated and will face strict action under customary law.
