Lotha Hoho ‘authorised’ to represent community in Naga Political Settlement

Wokha, September 28 (MExN): Frontal organisations of the Lotha community have ‘authorised’ the Lotha Hoho (LH) to represent the community in the ongoing process of Naga Political Settlement, the Lotha Hoho informed on Monday.

It said that the decision was taken during a meeting of all Lotha frontal organisations at Wokha on September 23, when the house “further unanimously authorised the Lotha Hoho to represent the Lotha tribe in all consultations, decision making and signing of any document related to the Naga political settlement.”

“The house demanded that the agreed points or competencies between the Government of India and the Naga political negotiators be made known to the Naga people, before signing the Final Agreement,” a statement issued by Lotha Hoho Chairman Mhondamo Ovung and Joint Secretary Amos Odyuo stated.

It said that the Lotha Hoho is empowered to co-opt members from the various Lotha organisations and subject experts to assist the Hoho in the matter. The house also resolved that if any member of the Lotha Hoho is, in any way threatened or opposed, by any group or individual, in the initiatives of Naga political settlement, the Lotha tribe will take collective stern action against the culprit, the statement read.

Recounting historical events such as the formation of NNC in February 1946 at Wokha, decision on Naga Plebiscite at Sanis in 1951, installation of the FGN in Lakhuti in 1956, and other events that took place in Lotha soil, it said that “the Lotha people have sacrificed and suffered much like any Naga,” while reaffirming the Lotha Hoho’s support to the Naga national movement and settlement.

“Likewise all Nagas must sacrifice petty personal differences and work unitedly for the common Naga cause,” it added.

Further, the Lotha Hoho appealed the Naga people to unitedly stand for the common cause and help all negotiating groups and the interlocutor in bringing a solution that is honourable and acceptable to the Nagas.
