Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): The Lotha Hoho, BJP Wokha as well as other prominent citizens from Wokha, reacting to a news item highlighting a group of citizens from Kohima calling for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against ‘vested interests’ in the PM’s Package issue, has questioned the purpose of such an action since the alleged negligence of Wokha district is unfounded.
It may be mentioned that even while reaction is being registered, the Finance Secretary of the Lotha Students Union (LSU) has gone to press that he was forced by the union’s President and the Vice-President that he was unconstitutionally made Seasonal Secretary that appended approval towards the dismissal of General Secretary Nzan K Yanthan.
In a sequence to the deepening controversy that has witnessed upheaval in the LSU already, the Lotha Hoho, the BJP Wokha Unit, former members of Wokha Town Committee and an Advocate has questioned the contention that Wokha district has been “ill-treated”, left out of all developmental activities and that it is one of the most neglected towns in the district where all public amenities are in a sorry state.
A joint statement from Lotha Hoho Finance Secretary M Aremo Tungoe, BJP Wokha General Secretary Meribemo Kinghen, Lotha Hoho ex-chairman R Yanthan, ex-Town Committee member KS Ngullie and Advocate Oren Humtsoe stated “Your goodselves are called upon to come to Wokha Town and see for yourselves what is going on in Wokha town and hold public debate to support your PIL” the statement challenged.
Clarification was also demanded as to how and why PIL are filed. “Do you know PIL is filed when the interest of public of a concerned area are jeopardized and ignored. Where is your PIL when the people are quiet and extremely pleased for having a pucca road in every nook and corner of the town?” the five citizens asked.
It was maintained that instead of appreciating the government for the developmental works being undertaken much commotion was being raised against the PM’s package. It was claimed that the people are contented with the road development works and pleased with the Nagaland government.
