DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): The Lotha Hoho has issued a 5 days ultimatum to the State Government for sufficient posting of doctors and medical equipment for Wokha district and at Motsuo Memorial District Hospital within five days.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, the Lotha Hoho informed that it had issued memos to the government on two occasions demanding the same.
“The memos seem to have fallen on deaf ears,” the Lotha Hoho stated and cautioned that failure to respond on the part of the government would compel it to take its own course of action.
NPF disappointed by preparedness in Wokha
Meanwhile, the Wokha division of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has also expressed disappointment over the preparedness of the medical facilities at Wokha District.
The division informed that the only Government Hospital at Wokha Town has only four ICUs with one ventilator.
“As per the statistics shown by the concerned authority, Wokha District is supposed to get not less than 600 to 700 stranded citizens coming from various cities and therefore the present medical facilities should be upgraded at the earliest,” it demanded.
It demanded that the number of ICU at District Hospital Wokha should be increased to minimum ten to twelve. The present facilities available at Sub-Divisional HQs (PHC) such as Bhandari, Sanis, Englan, Wozhuro, Chukidong and Nyiro are not up-to the required standard, it further pointed out.
