
WOKHA, FEBRUARY 4 (MExN): In a bid to address the ongoing impasse over the Implementing Agreement for the Foothills Road Project, the three apex Hohos—Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, and Sumi Hoho—held an emergency consultative meeting with the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and representatives from contractor firms and proprietors. The meeting took place at the Lotha Hoho Headquarters in Wokha Town on February 4.
After lengthy deliberations, it was unanimously resolved to entrust the Lotha Hoho to sort out the deadlock between the NFHRCC and some contractors firms which work allocation falls under Baghty division to amicably sign the Implementing Agreement with the NFHRCC which was in practice since the Foothills Road Project begins in 2013, a joint press release on the meeting resolution issued by the three apex hohos informed.
The Lotha Hoho were given five days time to reason it with the contractors firm to comply with the NFHRCC Implementation Agreement as it was unconditionally endorsed by the 12 apex tribal Hohos.
In the event of failing to resolve to sign in the Implementing Agreement put forward by the NFHRCC by the selected contractor firms, the resolution adopted by the 3 apex Hohos on January 16, 2025 at Ao Senden HQ, Mokokchung will unequivocally be enforced and thereby press upon the concerned department to nullify the work orders, the press release stated.
Furthermore, it was resolved that no contractor firms yet to sign the agreement with the NFHRCC are to commence work at their allocated project sites during the five-day negotiation period.
