The Lotha Hoho issued this press release in reaction to the “proposed Railway from Dimapur to Tizit, through Wokha District.”
“The Lotha public fails to understand as to why there should be a parallel Railway line from Dimapur to Tizit. This proposed railway is understood to run in parallel to the existing NEF Railway line with only a few kilometres apart, from each other, and with a Dead End at Tizit. The laying of a parallel Railway line just about six kilometres apart from each other is found unjustified, since there is hardly any industrial, mineral, agricultural etc products or Metropolitan cities, at either ends so as to necessitate such a railway facility,” stated the Lotha Hoho in a press release from its Chairperson, Mhondamo Ovung, and General Secretary, S Abenthung Ngullie, today.
Failing to understand the requirements for such a rail line with a “dead end” in Tizit, the Hoho grappled to understand the reason behind “such an unnecessary initiative; unless with an ulterior motives.”
On “behalf of the Lotha public,” thus, the Lotha Hoho resolved “not to allow any such parallel Railway through its jurisdiction, until and unless the Lotha public is convinced that such an initiative is for the benefit of the people.”
The Hoho had also wrote to the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, on the issue “cautioning that no such parallel Railway, just a few kilometres apart from old existing NEF Railway, will not be allowed through Lotha territory.”
