Wokha, April 14 (MExN): The 20th edition of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) Martyrs Trophy kicked off at local ground Wokha on April 14.
A total of 21 teams participating are participating in tournament, which started after a silent tribute at LSU’s Martyrs Park.
Gracing the opening day as special guest, Dr Rolan Lotha said that unity and forgiveness is the prime source in bridging the gap and urged the students gathered to have the “mindset of forgiveness and gather the responsibility to live togetherness.”
Be a source of light that eliminates the darkness since they are the future leaders, he said, further called for inculcating the spirit to contribute towards society at an earlier stage and be selfless and remain humble.
True unity can happen when one forgives and uproot the selfish thoughts in oneself, he added.
Acknowledge one another, and do not to give up hope when life is at worst and hopeless, Dr Lothe stressed.
Speaking as the special invitee, SP Wokha Imtitoshi said that football is a disciplined sport and one needs to be physically and mentally fit without the influence of any intoxicant.
He called the players to be professional in their particular profession with strategy, time management and determination.
This also holds true for every student for their academic excellence.
A short speech was also delivered by Mhonlumo Vice-Chairman Lotha Hoho on the occasion.
Earlier presidential address and welcome was delivered by Ashanthung Humtsoe, Presidents LSU while
Amos Odyuo, former LSU president took the tribute remembering the slain heroes.
The programme was chaired by T Penthungo Lotha with an invocation prayer by Jenibemo Kithan, youth secretary, LBCA.
