LOU-DHEP clarifies on allegations

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Land Owners’ Union, Doyang Hydro Electric Project (LOU-DHEP) today cautioned anyone or group against misinterpreting judgment order without “knowing the language of law and legality.”

The LOU-DHEP said this in its clarification to a news item entitled “Rejoinder to LOU-DHEP” published in the media alleging that “the tenure of the LOU-DHEP under the Presidentship of R. Yanthan cannot be extended as per the judgment of the Civil Judge (Jr) Wokha, dated 29-07-16.”

The rejoinder also questioned the unanimous decision to reaffirm the validity of the election held on May 14, 2014 and the extension of the tenure under the present leadership at a meeting last September.

“As a matter of fact, it was and is not a question of extending the tenure of the office but rather, it is a question of respecting the verdict of the esteemed court and to hold its verdict both in letter and in spirit,” asserted LOU-DHEP in a press note issued by its Press Secretary, Yanpothung Ezung.

One cannot take to media by virtue of the ‘freedom of speech and expression’ to tarnish the image of any entity without knowing the “language of law and legality.”

According to the Union, during the meeting held on September 14, out of the members from 14 villages present at the meeting, only two individuals did not concede to the popular demands of the affected villages.

Therefore the allegations stands invalid and rejoinder was a mockery to the land owners and the effected villages since LOU-DHEP has existed and will exist only as one entity since its inception and the questions of X, Y or Z group does not arise, it added.

It further stated that the present LOU-DHEP is led by R. Yanthan as its president and the union is open for “any clarification and ratification to accommodate any ideas and suggestions for pro-welfare activities.”

To make the final attestation to this assertion, the 14 villages had unanimously “validated the general meeting and the election held on the 14/05/2014,” LOU-DHEP maintained.
