Wokha, March 26 (MExN): Land Owners’ Union, Doyang Hydro Electric Project (LOU/DHEP) has clarified that the election of the union held on January 16, 2018 was in consonance with the judgement order of Guwahati High Court, Kohima Bench dated April 20, 2017 and June 7, 2017.
The said order set aside the Executive Order of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha for not having its jurisdiction over the functioning of LOU/DHEP, stated a press release from Yanchum Jami, Convener, Media Cell, LOU/DHEP.
“The Deputy Commissioner Office, Wokha being barred from the affairs of the LOU/DHEP, the affected villages appointed Yanpothung Shitiri, President Englan Range Village Council Union and Tsanthungo Ezung, Chairman Aree New Village Council to oversee the formation of LOU/DHEP office bearers. Accordingly, notification was issued to select and submit its Executive Members to the LOU/DHEP. On receiving the Executive Members from the affected villages, the Election of the office bearers was held on January 16, 2018 at NRC Hall Doyang,” it further stated.
The election, it said, was participated by 14 affected villages comprising of 28 Executive Members. “Out of 28 Executive Members, 26 Executive Members voted in favour of Rhanbemo Odyuo to be the President of LOU/DHEP, which was set in motion by the Election Commission presided by Bichamo Yanthan and Yankhorao Kithan as Election Commissioners,” the release added.
