Love gives Naga Chaplin a voice

Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): Imagine the power of love; it gave a voice to ‘Naga Charlie Chaplin,’ not only a voice but also the power to sing songs and make dialogue in different tongues, as he entertained the audience inside the IMC hall with his moves and his songs which were sung in different tongues.

The original Charlie Chaplin which people saw in black and white movies, today had a voice when the 41 year comedian, Purniken (deliberately mispronounced as ‘Born-again) took to the stage at the Manoranjan programme organized by the Wain Sporting Club, Diphupar here today.

“Apni khan beshi morem hoi bara, awas bhi paishe” said Purniken. (I got a voice because I love you so much)

Then the fun started and besides his dialogue, he along with his partner, Wapang, presented a song which was a medley of variosu dialects and  “languages” much to the joy of the audience.

Talking to The Morung Express, before the programme, the ‘Naga Charlie Chaplin’ disclosed that he is a father of three children and that he got his nick name as the Naga Charlie Chaplin after he and his friend imitated the popular TV character at a Congress rally in Mokokchung way back in 1997, thereafter he was mostly referred to as the Charlie by his friends, he said.

The Manoranjan with ‘Naga Charlie Chaplin’ programme which was organized by the SWC Diphupar also saw a performance  by Naga Idol finalist Achen Imcen, ‘Naga-ali’ Aliba from Mokokchung and others.
