Love note: The hour of repentance

Dr. T. Aonok

THE CRY OF JOHN THE BAPTIST is again being heart through out the land! “REPENT – that is, think differently: change your mind, regretting your sins and change your conduct for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”. In this hour, God is calling forth his people to REPENTANCE: a deep, searching repentance. Over the past year, I have had God deal with me in areas of my heart that were heretofore untouched by his spirit. I have seen the mighty power of his eyes of fire as they penetrate deep into the depths of my soul, revealing my utter wretchedness before him, convincing me more than ever of my dependence upon him and his mercies rather than m y works of righteousness.

In this hour, God is preparing a people to be one with him, and in order to come into that realm in the spirit, we must be willing to be cleansed of our unrighteousness. Several weeks ago, during a worship and prayer, fasting the spirit of the Lord came upon me, and he began to show me in away I had never seen before, how filthy I was in his sight. As he burned into me, all that I could do was cry out for his mercy, and beseech him for his forgiveness because I came to the realization of how righteous he really is.

So often may think that we are somebody, or that we are spiritually acceptable, but as we begin t compare ourselves to him, we understand that he alone is holy and that only thru his way can we come into his presence and not be ashamed. As the Lord has spoken to my heart to move into more fasting and prayer I have seen that truly, we are in the hour of John the Baptist, for the hour of the KINDOM OF GOD is at hand, and in order for us to enter into that hour, we must be truly repentant. So many times we think that because we have Jesus to be our saviour that we are all okay, but it is far more serious than that. For if we are truly to enter into the call of the hour, it we are to be willing to surrender our selves to a place of continual repentance will come much joy, for as we see our need for him, as we understand his mercy upon us, and as we grasp our own inability save or deliver ourselves, we become all the more respectful of our sovereign god, knowing that he alone is worthy of all honor, praise and glory.

That awful day!
‘That awful day will surely come, the appointed hour makes haste, when I must stand before my judge, and pass the solemn test”.

THE BIBLE TELLS US that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was for the purpose of him being “Lord both of the dead and living” (Roman 14:9). The very next verse says, :….we shall ALL stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (v.10). Not only this, but verse 11 declares, “…every tongue shall confess to god”. This latte verse is not  speaking about universalism which teaches “All will be saved”, but it tells us that ALL will finally confess Jesus Lord ship sooner or later some for salvation, and most to damnation!

Verse 12 plainly says, ‘EVERY ONE of us shall give account of himself of God’. You and I, we, all of us will give an account of our lives to our creator. NO ONE escapes this. Don’t you think it is better to give your life to God now? Why wait, my dear perishing sinner? It is appointed unto a man once to die, and then comes the judgment (Hebrew 9:27). It is a solemn, terrifying thing to die unsaved. To die in one’s sin is DREADFUL! Jesus died in our place we can escape hell fire through him! If w but call upon his name repent of 9turn from0 our sins, and by faith, enter into his glorious kingdom of life and light, we can be eternally saved from hell.

I fear that in this generation of gross, widespread apostasy, even the Christians are facing the awful wrath of God, for they have forsaken their first love and have gone a whoring after gods/goddesses of this perverse Dark Age. “But, Dr.Aonok”, you reply, “Look at all the beautiful churches and great ministries men have built! Surely they can’t be that bad off!” I am aware of all the beautiful buildings and great religious exercises and sacrifices being done in this hour, but I am also aware of all the hypocrisy and sinfulness among the religious”. We poured out our money freely and constructed this beautiful edifice. These fine pews have been sepulchers to the dead, and this fine cushions the habiliments of our graves. We have had good preaching, but we AWOKE NOT!. O, Lord you know how helpless our deplorable state was. But during these (revival) meetings, the voice of the Son of God has awakened the DEAD! And they have come forth a great army, and are on the march for the conquest of souls for you.

Dear ones, we ought to pray for more real awakenings among the religious DEAD! It’s a gross shame to see especially churches here in nagaland go to the Devil!

Churches in this hour are full of unregenerate and backsliders all thinking they will not give an account to God. So we have a “developed religion” whereby the spiritually DEAD unregenerate/apostate expects Heaven while living like HELL! To make things worse, today’s apostate backslides unashamedly. Surely the flames of HELL FIRE will be justified in consuming such a one!

Does God call a few special “elite ones” and despise the multitudes? Not at all! God calls the many (ALL) and proclaims to them the good tidings of salvation not deceitfully, but honestly, not to mock their refusal and aggravate their bondage under chains of inexorable fate,” as it has been said. Men are the ones who REFUSE His loving call to BE SAVED FROM HELL!

His call to the “dead” sinner is that the sinner will willingly receive eternal life. “Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3: 19)
