The 25 years of the Lower PR Hill Youth Organisation was commemorated on January 19 under the theme 'Towards Virtuosity'. The event was graced by Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, Advisor, Rural Development as the special guest.
In his speech, Kire appreciated the unity and solidarity of the ward which has enabled the members to work progressively. “25 years should not end with just the celebration,” said Kire who urged the youth to work purposefully and initiate changes in the ward.
"Don't talk big. Initiate small actions," advocated the Advisor who express the hope that the completion of 25 years will be the beginning of positive actions by the youth in the ward. Emphasising on the multi-cultural fabric of the capital, Dr. Kire stated that 'Kohima is not only about Angamis but is about all the tribes and the numerous communities' that makes up the essence of the capital of Nagaland. Therefore, Dr. Kire encouraged the youth to work cohesively and be an example for other wards to emulate. Initiation of developmental works in the coming weeks was also assured during the event.
Meanwhile, Longasen Lotha, SDO (C) Sadar Kohima and Convener Adoption Committee, encouraged the present youth officials to preserve the legacy and achievements of the pioneers and further set an example for the youth tomorrow. Lotha also acknowledged the initiatives of Dr. Nicky Kire Advisor, Rural Development in various developmental activities for the wards in Kohima town. Lotha also focused on the area of sanitation and cleanliness, encouraging the youths to promote healthy and hygienic living in the community.
A special baking competition was also held during the celebration comprising of seven participants. The winners for the competition were Teiso Suohu (1st), Achüno Suohu (2nd) and Ali (3rd).
