Loyem Memorial School, Tuensang celebrated its cultural day with participation from students and faculty on October 1.

The celebration featured displays of traditional attire, indigenous games, and cultural performances centered on the theme of preserving cultural heritage and promoting unity among diverse communities.

Guest speaker S Hongkin Sangkum, President of the Noksen Students’ Union, urged students to take pride in their roots and uphold their customs while embracing mutual respect and harmony across different cultural practices. His highlighted the need to safeguard identity and foster understanding in a rapidly changing world.

Students demonstrated various indigenous skills such as top spinning, bamboo climbing, and traditional fire making, activities that embodied the wisdom and resilience of local traditions. Folk dances and songs added energy and colour to the celebration, captivating the audience.

The event served as both an educational and cultural experience, helping students reconnect with their heritage while appreciating cultural diversity.
