On October 19, the grounds of Astro Turf Loyem became the stage for enthralling football clashes in the ongoing Loyem Memorial Trophy 2023. In a riveting match, last year’s champions Son Kük Laang FC displayed their prowess, securing their second win with a commanding 6-0 victory against Chang Students’ Union Saksi.
The 24th minute saw the seasoned captain, Imlong Chaba, etch his name on the score sheet, setting the tone for a formidable performance. Ayen, who had already secured a hattrick in the previous match, added another goal in the 44th minute, showcasing his scoring prowess. The second half witnessed Awang, the agile midfielder and first-half substitute, leaving defenders in his wake as he netted an individual goal.
Further solidifying their lead, Yemlong, another strategic substitute, notched the fourth goal in the 69th minute. In the second match, a triumphant return unfolded as Vetao Ayie FC, one of the senior-most clubs in Tuensang, after a three-year hiatus, dominated Rise of Strangers FC with an astonishing 10-0 victory. The onslaught began early in the 2nd minute when Tangsoi opened the floodgates, setting the tone for an offensive spectacle. Longkhoi, exhibiting an unparalleled display of skill, scored a double hattrick, leaving spectators in awe.
Adding to the scoreline, Tangsoi contributed another goal to his impressive tally in the 48th minute, while Muthiu secured a brace. The comprehensive 10-0 victory showcased Vetao Ayie FC’s resurgence and established them as a formidable force in the ongoing tournament.
