Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): The over-hyped LPG delivery system in Dimapur has fallen flat with consumers having to go about the usual skirmishes to secure a cylinder. Notwithstanding the notification of the Naga Council deciding with LPG agencies to deliver LPG cylinders to consumers, the much-hyped system has yet to be implemented.
Keeping in mind the immense difficulties consumers has to suffer, an angry GBs Union of Dimapur today threatened to take to the streets if the matter is not addressed swiftly. The GB union’s vice president I Pangjung Ao informed in a note that consumers endure long queues the entire day but return without a cylinder. This has led to black-marketeering where one purchases an LPG cylinder at exorbitant rates ranging from Rs. 450 to Rs. 500.
The GB union urged the authority in concern to check the “illegal system” of LPG distribution and book the responsible as per legal provisions. The LPG distributing agencies are also asked to do business for “both ends” benefit rather than seeking profit. The Dimapur GBs have warned that if the matter is not addressed within due period, the masses would be forced to take to the streets and the authority in concern will have to shoulder the eventualities.
