Acting on reports of widespread diversion of domestic LPG cylinders being illegally used in hotels, restaurants, garages and many other commercial places, thereby leading to shortage and causing great difficulties to genuine domestic LPG customers, a team of the Dimapur police raided various places to check and curb these illegal practices.
The police team which went for the raid at 9 am in the morning was split into three groups accompanied by four DBs and gazetted officers. A total of 141 LPG cylinders and 20 subscriber’s booklets were seized in Dimapur area like, Purana Bazar, Blue Hill station, Malwari Pathi, Eros line, Ellora line, Burma Camp, Super Market and arrested 9 females and 39 males involved in this case. A case has been registered.
Dimapur DC Abhijit Sinha, IAS, said over phone that people are suffering due to the shortage of LPG cylinders while some sections are indulging in illegal practices. He said that as per the law, action would be taken against the culprits and to the defaulters. The LPG cylinders are presently being kept in the custody of IOC at 7th mile.
