LPO appeal Centre to venerate Naga flag and constitution

Wokha, August 19 (MExN): The Lotha Public organization (LPO) has appealed to the Government of India to expedite early settlement of the protracted Indo-Naga political issue and urged the Centre to venerate the Naga flag and constitution as desired by Naga people.

“These two connatural and imprescriptible rights are the ‘heart and soul of the Naga people,’” the LPO Publicity Cell stated in a press release on August 19. It also urged the Prime Minister of India to sincerely expedite the Naga political solution at the earliest time possible and “play a proactive role at this crucial stage of discussion and negotiations between the Government of India and NSCN.”

The LPO quoted the Prime Minister who after signing the Framework Agreement with the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015, said “We will not only try to heal wounds and resolve problems, but also be your partners as you restore your pride and prestige. Today's agreement is a shining example of what we can achieve when we deal with each other in spirit of equality and respect, trust and confidence; when we seek to understand concerning and try to address aspirations, when we leave the path of dispute and take the high road of dialogue.” As such, it urged the Government of India to “anticipate, respect and adhere to the Framework Agreement” in letter and spirit.
