Jalukie, August 21 (MExN): The Lamhai People's Organisation (LPO) representing the five villages of Lamhai has expressed shock over the laying of a foundation stone for establishment of Aqahuto EAC Headquarter on August 9 at Lamhai land “without any knowledge of the landowner village.” The foundation Stone was inaugurated by Minister Jacob Zhimomi.
Accordingly, in a press release, the LPO asserted that the traditional boundary of Lamhai village extends till the Dhansiri river bordering Chümoukedima and as such, if such EAC Headquarter is necessary, the Lamhai village should be the first to be consulted.
Besides Kiyevi village there is not a single Government recognised village in this area, and therefore, the need to have an EAC Headquarter does not arise, it added.
In this connection, the LPO strongly condemned the wisdom of the Government in taking such a controversial decision without proper consultations with the stakeholders and creating confusions in the minds of the peace loving people of Lamhai village.
“We demand that the Foundation Stone be removed immediately so that peaceful atmosphere in the area is not disturbed,” stated a press release issued by LPO President Namtsi Zeliang and General Secretary Keditei Heikieraing.
