LS Polls: Section 144 CrPC imposed in Peren, Tseminyu

Peren, March 19 (MExN): District Magistrate Peren, Vineet Kumar, IAS in an order dated 18th March 2024 has informed that to conduct free, fair, participative, accessible, inclusive and safe election to the Lok Sabha and in exercise of the power conferred under section 144 CrPC, 1973 has prohibited carrying of any kind of arms or ammunition by any person within Peren District.

All licensed arms unless exempted under law must deposit to the nearest police station on or before March 30.

He further informed that the order is applicable to all the persons within Peren District except the Police personnel and the Security forces and the Officials/personnel involved in law and order duty.

The District Magistrate also stated that in view of the emergent nature, the order has been issued ex-parte and is addressed to the public in general.

This order shall take immediate effect and shall be effective till the declaration of result as per the ECI press note, the Dc Peren added.

Tseminyu: District Magistrate Tseminyu, Rohit Singh IAS has notified that the election Commission of India has announced the general election to the 18th Lok Sabha 2024 dated 16th March 2024 declared the schedule for conduct of General Election for 1-Nagaland general parliamentary constituency. In this connection he informed that carrying of licensed arms may lead to intimidation of electors, cause breach of peace and tranquility and may disrupt public order within the Tseminyu District which may adversely impact the peaceful, free and fair conduct of General Election within the District.

The District Magistrate Tseminyu has directed all licensed arms holders within Tseminyu District to deposit the licensed arms and ammunitions under their possession to the nearest police station on or before March 30. The licensed arms and ammunitions so deposited shall be released one week after the declaration of election results. The officer in charge of the concerned police station shall issue a receipt to the owner, maintained proper records and ensure safe custody of the deposited arms and ammunitions. This ordered shall be applicable to all persons within Tseminyu District except the armed forces of union and state, paramilitary forces, police personnel and other enforcement agencies authorised to carry arms. In view of the emergent circumstances, this order is being issued ex-parte and is issued to the public in general. 

The District Magistrate Tseminyu in exercise of the powers vested under section 144(2) of the Code of Criminal procedure,1973, the provisions of section 144,CrPC and do proclaimed and prohibited the carry of licensed arms and ammunitions within Tseminyu District either in public or meeting or otherwise with immediate effect. Any person or group of persons found to be in violation of this order shall be liable to be prosecuted under the relevant provisions of the law. 

This order shall be applicable to all persons within Tseminyu District except the armed forces of union and state, paramilitary forces, police personnel and other enforcement agencies authorised to carry arms. In views of the emergent circumstances, this order is being issued ex-parte and is issued to the public in general. This order shall take immediate effect and shall be applicable till the declaration of election results, a DIPR report stated.
