‘Essence of true education constitutes knowledge and wisdom’
Pughoboto, January 5: At the 67th Lazami Students’ Union general session at Lazami Catholic Church Compound on January 4, Y. Vikheho Swu Parliamentary Secretary Irrigation & Flood Control stated that the essence of true education constitutes knowledge and wisdom with honesty and dedication, and the fear of God as the base.
Speaking at the session, he stressed on the importance of the Student’s Union in the upbringing and broadening of the minds of the students and that student leader ought to be diligent as well as maintain honesty to set an example.
The Parliamentary Secretary also pointed out that attaining self-sufficiency is the need of the hour and that Lazami village should effectively and efficiently use the resources of vast fertile farmland by reducing the jhum cycle and shift to various other forms of cultivation such as horticulture, cash crop cultivation and conservation of forest to preserve the rich bio-diversity of the region. He also urged the young minds to initiate new ideas and venture out into various other sectors other than vying only for the Government jobs. He said that assistance will be granted by the government to young entrepreneurs seeking assistance through LADP.
The 67th Lazami Students Union cum sports meet was held from January 3 to 5, 2014.
