Wokha, January 25 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has urged the Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Chukitong to take immediate and decisive action against ongoing instances of ragging and bullying within the institution.
In a letter addressed to the Principal, LSU highlighted repeated reports of junior students facing harassment despite previous appeals to address the issue. The union said that such behavior undermines the fundamental values of education and creates an unsafe environment for students.
The LSU demanded a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and enforce strict disciplinary measures, including mandatory counseling and sensitivity training for those involved. They also called for the establishment of preventive mechanisms, such as a confidential reporting system for victims, counseling and support services for affected students, and regular awareness programs on anti-ragging laws.
The letter further noted that LSU expects a prompt response from the school administration, detailing concrete steps to resolve the matter. The union warned that it would continue monitoring the situation and take additional measures if the issue persists.
