NEW DELHI, UTTARAKHAND, PATNA, DECEMBER 2 (MExN): The 61st Statehood Day of Nagaland was celebrated at Raj Niwas, New Delhi on December 1 with Lt Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena and Sangita Saxena hosting the celebration as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
According to a DIPR report, Saxena greeted the people of Nagaland on the momentous occasion at the function which was attended by senior government officials from the State, students and Naga community living in the capital.
While stating that the Prime Minister emphasis on the North-East region has resulted in more exposure of the State to other parts of the country, the Lt Governor encouraged the people to include North-East in their travel itinerary. He also stated that as much as Delhi is a part of Delhiites so it is for people living in it. He also assured to look into any matters faced by the people from the State living in the capital.
Chief Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House New Delhi, Jyoti Kalash thanked the Lt Governor for hosting the celebration which, he stated, is the first of its kind. A cultural dance was performed by Lotha cultural troupe and the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union, New Delhi presented a folk song during the programme.
Meanwhile, Nagaland House, New Delhi also celebrated the 61st Statehood day on December 1. Chief Resident Commissioner, New Delhi and Additional Chief Secretary, Nagaland, Jyoti Kalash was the chief guest of the programme held, with the officers and staff of Nagaland House joining in the celebration.
Observing the special occasion, Chief Resident Commissioner took Rashtriya Salute from the 4th NAP Battalion Wazirabad. Addressing the gathering, Jyotish Kalash stated that the Nagaland has come a long way, with the State now linked to all the major cities in the country through railways and airways.
Uttarakhand Gov invites Nagas in Dheradun on 61st Statehood Day
On the occasion of the 61st Nagaland statehood day, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) met with members of the Dehradun Naga community at the Raj Bhavan, Dehradun. The Naga community members present included Naga students studying in Dehradun as well as elders working in Dehradun.
The student members led by student leaders Lumchungli T Sangtam and Bopeto K Shohe presented two songs before the gathering and a model of a Morung and a Naga spear was presented to the Governor by the community, a press release informed.
Dr Nokmatongba Jamir, Deputy General Manager (Geology), ONGC delivered a speech on behalf of the Naga community highlighting the uniqueness of the state, its culture and values. He thanked the Governor for the honour accorded to the members of the Naga community.
The Governor in his speech recounted his days in the Army with Naga soldiers and expressed his profound admiration for the beauty and simplicity of the Naga culture and values. He called upon members of the Dehradun Naga community to embrace a spirit of unity and oneness with the whole country and to be good ambassadors of Naga culture and values.
Medical students celebrate statehood day at Raj Bhavan, Patna
Members of Nagaland Medical Students Union Bihar attended the 61st Nagaland statehood day celebration at Raj Bhavan, Patna upon the invitation of the Governor of Bihar Rajendra Vishnwanath Arlekar. Principal Secretary to the Governor, Robert L Chongthu gave the welcome speech.
Speaking on behalf of the students and Nagas, Dr Nyemwang Konyak, Senior resident NMCH Patna conveyed his appreciation to the Governor for inviting the students to be a part of the celebration. He also mentioned that the 61st statehood day is indeed very special as Nagaland now has a medical college after being recognised as the only state in India without a medical college for a very long time.
Meanwhile, Along Imchen, proprietor Auxin Educational Centre, Patna who has been working in Bihar for past 16 years stated how there was a negative view about Bihar when he initially planned to work in Bihar but over the years he has experienced the warm hospitality of Bihar and their humbleness.
Special memento in the form of traditional Naga scarf was gifted to the Governor.
Arlekar, in his speech, stressed upon the importance of igniting the sense of oneness amongst us and on “Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat.” The students also presented a special number.
