Lt. Solanuo Badze, Keyake, P. Khel Kohima Village dedicated

Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The renovation and blessing of Lt. Solanuo Badze, Keyake, P. Khel, Kohima Village was formally dedicated on February 17 by Rev. Fr. Peter Salwe, SDB, Parish Priest Christ King Church, Kohima Village.  

Lt. Solanuo Pienyü is the wife of late. Rheichalie Pienyü, Peshkar, who is also the first President of Naga Club, informed a press release received here.  

Delivering a speech at the programme, Prasielie Pienyu said that the resting place was constructed and erected on January 23, 1929 by Lt. Rheichalie (Hisale) Pienyü in memory of his wife Lt. Solanuo Pienyü was dedicated to the public on February 17, 2018. He said that Lt. Rheichalie Pienyü s/o Pusalie Pienyu was born in 1864, joined the American Missionary established Mission School and studied upon to Class VI, later joined the DC’s office as Peshkar during the British regime under service No.1110.  

The monolith erected reads during those days he settled many disputes /cases which might lead to village or tribe serious conflicts. Thus he brought peace and tranquility among the Nagas. “Lt. Rheichalie Pienyü was a founding member of the only Naga Club formed in 1918 and became the first President of the Club which functioned at Chotobosti (now called Kitsubozou). He was a Naga Nationalist, a mastermind and a signatory to the famous memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission on 10th January, 1929.  

He translated Easopfables (Greek) to Angami dialect called “Tefii Dzeda” which was very popular and was read in the school. Since he had a great concern for the education of the Nagas, he was included as member in the construction of committee of Government High School, Zienuo Badze (Now called Ruzhukhrie Higher Secondary School), which was the first and oldest school Government High School in Kohima. His contribution/donation towards this school was one of the highest amongst the Nagas.  

Rheichalie Pienyü died in 1944 just before the Second World War broke out.  

The Solanuo resting place was renovated on February 17, 2018 and dedicated to the public by Prasielie Pienyü, Keduokhrietuo Pienyü and Visabeinyü Pienyü, Great Grand Children of Lt. Rheichalie Pienyü.
