Dimapur, June 21 (MExN): The Luhevi Village Council has declared the village “Open Defecation Free” and “No Tobacco Zone”.
A resolution to this effect was taken during a Public General Meeting comprising village elders, church leaders, students union and others on June 20 at the Village Council Hall, Luhevi Village under Niuland sub-division in Dimapur.
With the completion of construction of sanitary toilets in all households, the village was declared as “Open Defecation Free”, the resolution made available to the media stated. The resolution was appended by Head GB Dr. LK Achumi, Luhevi Baptist Church Pastor Khutovi, and Luhevi Village Students’ Union President Akani Zhimo.
Also declaring the village as a “No Tobacco Zone”, the resolution stated that the sale and consumption of tobacco related products is banned within the village jurisdiction.
The resolution further stated the Village Council will pursue an environmental-friendly endeavour in all development aspects and maintain the village area as “Green village”.
Following the meeting, the gathering planted tree saplings around the village.
