Wokha, March 4 (MExN): The Longsa village youth organization (LVYO) appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Wokha to initiate immediate action to stop atrocities, vandalism, and thefts post election in Wokha. In their letter, the LVYO stated that on March 2 at 11 pm, the NPF supporters of Wokha Village attempted to take the life of Peter Humtsoe and his family at his residence at Lower Mount Tiyi colony, Wokha. However, Peter managed to escape and on not finding him, the NPF supporters vandalized, and set ablaze the house and belongings.
LVYO also alleged that residences of various colonies at Wokha Town are being threatened by the same people with dire consequences for not supporting their NPF candidate during election. Warnings and intimidations of various sorts have been issued to the people residing in Wokha Town and surrounding villages under 38 A/C who did not support NPF. It has gone to the extent of restricting free movement of people in Wokha Village jurisdiction, LVYO added.
In the view of aforementioned cases, LVYO requested immediate action from the high authorities against the people involved, and stated that if necessary action is not taken, they will not allow the “culprits” from Wokha Village to pass their village, Longsa , and they will take their own course of action “deemed fit” against the culprits with effect from March 8 “for the security of the innocent public.”
