
Second day of M-Fest 2011 was marked by a cultural exchange programme with dance troupe representing different tribes of Assam and Nagaland. The programme was graced by Minister for Forest, M.C Konyak and Commissioner, Upper Assam Division, Syed Iftikhar Hussain as chief guest and guest of honor respectively.
The chief guest in his speech thanked the organizers and the Ao community in general for organizing such an event where people from different walks of life could come together by sharing the same platform, through which the spirit of brotherhood could be uphold. Acknowledging the people from Assam, the chief guest also mentioned that time to time people of the two state come across unfavorable incidence especially on boarder issues, but he also said that such small things should not be allowed to disturb the peaceful coexistence between the people of the two states. He further said that by organizing more of such events the relationship between the people of Assam and Nagaland would surely become more prominent.
Appreciating the efforts of the people responsible in organizing the M-Fest, the Guest of Honor mentioned that M-Fest is one platform through which good relationship could be maintained between neighbours. Quoting that 'culture as a social instrument' Hussain opined that people in the North East are all intertwined and as such the spirit of brotherhood must be nurtured by all. He also said that at times we might see ups and downs, good times and bad times in our society, yet good times always prevail. Therefore, to foster good relationship between the neighboring sates there should be more platform like the M-Fest in all North East by giving the opportunity to people so as to share each others culture and traditions, Hussain added.
Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Chishi delivered the welcome speech while short speeches were given by President, Ao Senden and President, Border Peace Co-ordination Committee (Assam- Nagaland). Director NEZCC, Som Kamei, IAS was the special guest of the programme.
