MADFA lifts Women’s Volleyball C’ship 2026

The Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026 drew to a close on September 10. The tournament was organised by the 78 Battalion, CRPF, in Dimapur, in collaboration with Sports Authority of India, under the Sports for Peace and Development Across Nations (Spandan). Spandan is an initiative under Khelo India by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Eighteen teams were in the reckoning for the championship title. Dimapur-based team MADFA won the tournament after defeating Volaris in the final match. 

The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and participating teams. In her address, she noted the growing participation of women in sports, stating that athletic competition serves as an instrument of inclusion and social change that crosses boundaries of language, geography, and background.

She said that such events provide female athletes a platform to test their abilities and compete beyond traditional expectations.

According to Imchen, a sporting culture provides youth with an avenue for constructive ambition and achievement while building community ties. She also recognised the spectators for supporting the athletes, along with the coaches, referees, and organisers from the 78 Battalion, CRPF, and the Sports Authority of India. She urged the participants to carry the experience forward into future competitions and inspire more young girls to enter the field of sports.
