Continuing with the exchange programme of the Madhya Pradesh Team to Nagaland under “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”, the team comprising of 4 associate professors and 12 students today visited Kohima Science College (Autonomous) Jotsoma and Kohima College Kohima respectively.
During their visit to the oldest college in the state, there were exchanges of thoughts, cultural songs and dances. Moanungla Kevichusa, the senior most faculty of Kohima College shared about the unique admission policy of the institution where there is no cut off percentage in order to accommodate students from the economically weaker section of the society. Through this exchange programme, she stated hope that Madhya Pradesh and Nagaland would join hands to also heal the world. Also expressing that India is a diverse country with diversity of race, caste, customs and traditions, she urged upon the gathering to unite and work together.
Dr. Charu Chitra, Associate Professor of Government K.R.G, Gwalior described that their stay in Nagaland has been like a “fairy land” while expressing profound gratitude for the generosity and admirable hospitality of the Nagas. “You are beautiful people”, she said and further added that “there is no barrier if there is art, emotion, music and culture.”
Vice Principal of Kohima College hoped that as they get to know each other better through this programme, they would also uplift the three principles of democracy which are equality, liberty and fraternity.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Team visited Kohima Science College, (Autonomous) Jotsoma later in the day wherein a cultural evening was organized. Prior to the event, they also paid a visit to the various departments in the college.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Director for Higher Education, Dr. I. Anungla Aier said that students are the future builders of the society while stating hope that through the experience of this trip, the Madhya Pradesh Team will take back good memories and stories and continue to be friends of the Nagas. “I hope that this exchange programme will bring better understanding of each other’s problems and contribute towards building One India, Great India”, she expressed.
Highlights of the cultural evening included welcome address by the Principal of Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma, while the cultural session comprised of Tati Performance, Otto (beat boxer), Group song by M.sc Geography and Botany Department, musical piece by Veprezo, unity folk dance from Geo-Chem Department and performances by the Visiting Team. Dr. Seyiekhrielie Whiso, Department of English was the compere for the event while General Secretary of KSCSU proposed the vote of thanks.
Cultural exchange programme held at St. John College
Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): A cultural evening was organised by St. John College, Dimapur to celebrate ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ under the aegis of Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland on March 17. The event was celebrated jointly by the student and faculty members of St. John College, delegates from Madhya Pradesh along with the delegates from the Government College, Dimapur. A total of 20 members from Madhya Pradesh visited the college. The University team were welcome by a cultural troupe from St. John College. There was also an interactive session with the students which was followed by a cultural programme, where both the college students and team from Madhya Pradesh performed various folk item and songs. Portraying the true purpose of a cultural exchange the team from Madhya Pradesh and St. John College performed together on the stage various songs invoking national patriotism. The cultural exchange programme concluded hesitantly leaving everyone wanting more.
