
The two-day annual Art & Music festival kicks off Oct 24

The Act of Kindness Team (AOK) is organizing two-day ‘Magnum Opus IV’ an annual Art & Music Festival, which among others, will feature poetry and short (fiction & folk) stories writing competitions.
The annual festival is being organised to celebrate and commemorate International Artist Day (October 25) and will be held on the October 24 and 25 at Urban Haat, Walford, Dimapur.
The poetry competitions include both Junior & Senior Category with an open theme and winners will receive cash prizes and book hampers from AOK.
The Short Folk Stories (Junior Category ) & Short Fiction Story (Senior Category) will also receive cash prizes from AOK and Book Hampers from Heritage Publishing House.
A press release from the AOK said that this year it is collaborating with ‘Wordsmithereens’ (The Nagaland chapter of the North-East Writers’ Forum) and coordinating a Poetry and short story literary workshop, to be held on both days.
The timings are 11:00 am – 12:00 noon (Poetry) and 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (Short Story). A Folk & Fiction Story Workshop will also be conducted by Dr Lanusangla on October 24, from 2:00-3:00 pm.
A distinct feature of the ‘Magnum Opus’, 2018 will be the presence of renowned Poets and eminent Writers of the North-East as Resource persons like Mitra Phukan, Dr Srutimala Duara, Robin Ngangom, Lalnunsanga Ralte, Amanda Bashisha Basaiawmoit and Tialila Kikon, the release informed.
Phukan is a writer, translator, a Columnist and trained classical vocalist, is the founder member of North-East Writers’ Forum.
Duara is a writer, Academician and a Media person while Ngangom is a bilingual poet and translator who writes in English and Manipuri.
Both Ralte and Basaiawmoit, are published poets. The latter is also a founding member of the Shillong Literary Coterie. Tialila Kikon is a contemporary poet from Nagaland. Sponsored by the local English daily, Nagaland Page, the Resource persons will share and interact with the participants during the workshop.
Besides, the competitions as well as the writing workshop will be judged and chaired by Assistant professors of English department from different colleges in Nagaland. They include are Bobita Rai and A Sentiyula, Dimapur Govt College; Imolangla Pongen, (HoD), Immanuel College; Esther Chonbeni Kikon, (HOD), Unity College, Tongpang Walling, Unity College, Dr Azono Khatso, ICFAI University and A Ajungla Jamir, Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung.
