
Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): Six people have been arrested by for drugging a lady and looting her house on the evening of November 15 in Dimapur. The Women Cell, Dimapur arrested Monura Begum, a resident of Khatkhati, Assam, on November 21 and through her disclosure arrested her accomplices today for their involvement in the crime. The co-accused have been identified as Raja Ali @ Raja Haque of Bersola village, Sontipur; Abul Bakar Sidhi @ Muna of Sundirpar, Naugaon; Ameel Haque of Munigaon; Md Guron Ali of Borbeta and Zenod Ali of Muriamori, Assam.
The Addl Superintendent of Police and PRO, Dimapur, said that on November 15, the husband of the victim lodged a FIR in the police station. According to the complainant, on November 15 he came home from his shop and found his wife unconscious. The cupboard had been broken and an amount of Rs. 58,000; ornaments worth Rs.15, 000 and three mobile phones were stolen. The Women Cell then arrested Monura Begum from Half-Nagarjan who was working as a maid in the house of the victim for the last two weeks.
According to the statement of the accused, Monura Begum was employed as a maid by Dhiraj Sahi who owns a motor parts store in City Tower. On the fateful evening, Sahi left his pregnant wife at home with the maid. After her left, the maid laced the victim’s tea with some kind of sleeping pills due to which she fell unconscious. The maid servant then called up her accomplices who broke open the cupboard and took away cash, valuables and other belongings.
During the course of investigation, the drugs and some other powder which was used to commit the crime was recovered from their possession. A case has been registered and the accused have been forwarded to court for remand till further investigation is being carried out in the case. The condition of the victim who was admitted to a hospital with acute poisoning is stated to be out of danger.
