
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 5 (MExN): Dimapur Police have arrested the main accused in the August 4 firing incident where one person was shot in the leg at Purana Bazaar. A press note from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed that a case has been registered at East PS Dimapur and the arrested accused has been remanded to police custody for further investigation. The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), while condemning the incident, stated that the victim, a college student, is a representative to the ANCSU from Eastern Christian College. “The member was shot twice at point blank Range by Puloto Awomi at Purana Bazaar, Dimapur around 9:00pm on the August 4. Along with the injured student, there were two other students from Eastern Christian College who were on their way home from a friend’s place,” the ANCSU informed in a press note. “The intention behind the attempt of murder during the wee hours is highly questionable by every section of the society. The ANCSU shall not shy away in this matter and shall be vigilant until justice is delivered to the victim,” it added. The union appealed to the concerned authority not to grant bail to the culprit under any circumstances. Meanwhile, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) also condemned the incident and stated that it would not tolerate such acts.
