One woman, suspected to be the main accused in the October 10 abduction in Diphupar, fell into police custody. The accused, a Kilonser in the NSCN-K (Niki), reportedly surrendered to the police on the night of October 25.

As per official sources, the accused turned up alone at a police station at around 9:00 pm, after which she was placed under arrest. Another accused, a man identified by the police as Ilhovi alias Kimeyeto, was not with her when she surrendered. There was no official update from the Dimapur police, however.

The duo was named in the abduction for ransom of two Naga entrepreneurs of Diphupar. They were later released unharmed.
The incident subsequently resulted in a public upheaval demanding state action on the perpetrators. The state government and the Ceasefire Monitoring Group in particular came under pressure as a conglomeration of youth organisations charged both the entities of inaction and giving free rein to the Naga Political Groups in ceasefire with the Government of India.

Two days after the abduction was reported, the Dimapur police was forced to issue a ‘Wanted’ notice announcing a reward of Rs 50,000 for any information leading to the capture of the duo.
