Kohima | April 19
The eighteen months time frame sought by the state government on October 18, 2020 to look into the process of mainstreaming of SSA & RMSA batches of 2010 and 2013 and bring the issue to a logical conclusion expired on April 18.
It was through the intervention of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) that the agitation was suspended by the aggrieved teachers in 2018 through an agreement signed with the government.
When enquired if any decision has been taken following the expiry of the deadline, State Chief Secretary, J Alam said, “we are about to take a decision. It will be decided by the Cabinet in its meeting scheduled on April 21.”
Meanwhile, ENSF president, Chingmak Kumchuba Chang said members of the two students’ bodies met the Chief Secretary on April 18. He informed that during the meeting, the government was given a ‘grace period of seven working days’ to resolve the issue.
“According to the Chief Secretary, they have compiled everything and prepared a cabinet memo as well,” informed Chang. The ENSF leader said he was hopeful that the issue would be discussed in the Cabinet meeting and some concrete decisions would come out.
