State Planning Board (SPB) deputy chairman Neiba Kronu on Wednesday called upon the students to maintain civic sense, dignity of labour, discipline and punctuality. After having acquired those qualities, Kronu said, they have to further propagate and teach other people to follow suit. “You have to imagine that the Nation depends on you,” he said while speaking at the 20th Foundation Day-cum-dedication of new faculty quarters of Baptist Theological College, T. Chikri, Pfutsero constructed by Chakhesang police officers.

Kronu asked the students to pray and transform those people who are into excessive use of alcohol while also appreciating what he called, the commendable services being rendered by the church community. Stating that he wishes to beautify the college area, he admitted that he cannot do it alone and sought the active participation and contribution from the faculty and students. “We need your participation,” he said.

Challenging the students to enhance their performance, he also expressed his desire to see that the college receives a degree of perfection when it celebrates 25 years of its existence. Highlighting the BTC ministry, principal of the college, Dr. Yiepetso Wezah said the BTC is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College/University and that the college is sponsored by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC).

Since its establishment, the College is committed to the service and glory of God. It has two types of ministries – within and outside the college. With specific aims and objectives, the college is giving theological education and practical training to the students who committed themselves to the ministry of God.

The college focuses its attention to leadership development by giving proper theological knowledge and practical skills, so that they can effectively lead people and meet the needs of people with the word of God, Dr. Wezah said. With the given task of God, the principal said, the college focuses to do mission work in Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Bangladesh.

“Now the members of the faculty and staff are sponsoring Moje Dupir, graduate from the college who is now working as evangelist in Manigoan and Machuka areas bordering Tibet and China. The Missionary Committee of the student body also extends help to the neediest people in Pfutsero town and to some of the rehab centres in Nagaland,” the principal said.

Dr. Wezah also said the College has a burning desire to save the lost souls and to work for God’s glory alone, adding the college is committed to reach the unreached with the gospel of salvation by giving training to those who are committed to proclaim the gospel.
