‘Maintain a cleaner and safer environment’

Mokokchung: The launching programme for National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness Week from February 20 to 25 was held at Mokokchung on February 20 by organizing a mass social work in all the wards in the morning.

A formal programme was held with Murohu Chotso Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) Mokokchung, as the chief guest. The DC Mokokchung said for a healthy environment, we need safe drinking water and good sanitation and for these, apart from the medical department, PHED is another department that look after the public health and good environment of the community.

Murohu urged the concerned department, ward authorities in the town and the representatives from the villages to give more efforts in spreading awareness to the people to maintain a cleaner and safer environment in the community.

Executive Engineer (PHED) Mokokchung, Er.N.Yanger Pongen in his short speech maintained that the awareness programme is a part of the strategy of Govt. of India to make people more aware on drinking water and sanitation. He said launching such awareness programme gives more public participation in maintaining and acquiring proper knowledge on drinking water and sanitation.

Er. Yanger Pongen also mentioned his appreciation towards the ward authorities in the town for their cooperation and tremendous response inspite of short notice and making the mass social work a success.
