‘Maintain competitive spirit’: DC Kma

The Kohima College, Kohima today observed its 41st Prize Distribution- cum- Social Parting with Kohima Deputy Commissioner Sachopra Vero as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Vero urged upon the students to maintain the competitive sprit in the present society. “Unless you develop the competitive spirit, you are not going to get a place in the present society,” he said.

We have landed in the competitive age, he said and asked the students to work hard in their search for excellence. He also urged upon them to pick up the habit of regular study. “There is no place for laziness in the kingdom of success,” Vero said adding that only those who work hard and sincere will get the place in the present society. Referring to the unemployment problem in the state, he encouraged the educated unemployed youth to engage themselves in private sectors and other self-employment avenues as well as ‘the government cannot provide job to everyone.’

We have to prepared ourselves; he said and encouraged the Naga youth to involve in running shops, driving taxis, etc.etc. Expressing his regret that many youth were showing less concern in minor works, he said that the time has come to change ‘our attitude.’ Also referring to various schemes like, PMRY, CM Corpus Fund etc. which are designed for educated unemployed youth, he regretted that many beneficiaries have been misusing the money.

He also called for proper utilization of various assistances being provided by the government. Earlier, C. Khalong Ao, principal, Kohima College, has urged upon the students to make the best use of their talent, admitting that “all of you have talent.” Also stating that everyone has purpose in life, he encouraged the students to work hard with sincerity in order to harness the desired goal. “Our future belongs to you,” he informed the students and maintained that they have potential to bring a drastic change in the society. 

The principal also urged upon the students to have faith in themselves and not to feel hesitant to avail the opportunity that come on their way. Earlier, Jensinlo and Avino Puro compered the programme while Dr. (Mrs.) B. Khing, lecturer said innovation prayer. M. Odyuo, Associate Pastor, City Church prayed for the outgoing students on the occasion. Erenthung and Kedoroko Casavi spoke on behalf of the outgoing and the remaining students respectively. Opening song by Phongshak, special song by Aien and Medongulie (Both lecturers), entertainment by Megorieto and friends, prize distribution also marked the occasion.

General Secretary Report was read out by Keneisanuo Thou while vote of thanks was tendered by Zelonyu Kent, assistant general secretary.
