A major fire accident was averted in Dimapur’s Oriental Colony on Monday afternoon after timely intervention from the Fire and Emergency Services.

According to an official of the Fire and Emergency Services, three trucks battled the blaze – which broke out on the third floor of the building – for about an hour before finally managing to control the fire. However, the inferno, suspected to have been caused by short circuit, gutted the two rooms on the third floor.   According to the official, the building had a cellular tower atop the terrace and the rooms were used by the cellular company to accommodate machines and equipments.
