Major Gen Manish Kumar takes charge as IGAR (N)

Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar) assumed the Command of IGAR (North) on March 15. He took over the charge from previous IGAR, Major General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM.

Kohima, March 15 (MExN): Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar) assumed the Command of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) on March 15. He took over the charge from previous IGAR, Major General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM.

The PRO, HQ IGAR (N) in a press release stated that Major General Manish Kumar was commissioned into the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles in December 1992. He has commanded an Infantry Battalion in Rajasthan & Assam and subsequently, an Assam Rifles Sector in Nagaland.
He is a post graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and also attended the Higher Command Course in Army War College Mhow.

“The General Officer has immense operational experience having served extensively in Jammu & Kashmir and the North East. A highly decorated Officer, he has been awarded with two Sena Medals, one Chief of Army Staff Commendation and four GOC-in-C Commendation Cards for his distinguished service to the nation,” the release stated. 

The General Officer extended his greetings to the people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and committed “to their continued progress and wellbeing in complete synergy with all the other Central and State stakeholders.”
