Major landslide along NH 702 in Alaphu

Zunheboto, July 13 (MExN): The Akuluto Range Students' Union (ARSU) has expressed concern on the major landslide which occurred along NH 702 in Alaphu, connecting Zunheboto to Mokokchung.

The ARSU requests the EE (PWD) Mokokchung, Parliamentary Secretary, Mechanical and National Highways and other departments concerned to take serious initiative at the earliest as the landslide is causing much distress to the people around. It should also be noted that the road connects Nagaland University Lumami to Akuluto and Zunheboto.   Meanwhile, the alternative road is far too dangerous even for light vehicle due to its condition. Therefore, ARSU also requests the authorities concerned to maintain the alternative road and make it safe for the travelers.

The ARSU, while extending support to the Government for tackling the situation at the earliest, added that the landslide has affected many people in Akuluto and Zunheboto, including the business community and consumers who depends on Mokokchung for their daily needs.
