Major meth bust in national capital

Two arrested including one from Nagaland 

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 23 (MExN): A joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Delhi Police Special Cell (CI) has led to the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network.

In an operation codenamed “Crystal Fortress,” authorities seized 328 kg of high-quality methamphetamine from a house in the Chhatarpur area of the he National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi on November 20. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is Rs 262 crore.

This is reportedly one of the largest seizures of methamphetamine in the capital. “This decisive action is the culmination of a relentless pursuit over last few months based on intelligence and technical intercepts uncovering a well-organized trafficking chain, eventually leading to this major breakthrough,” stated a Ministry of Home Affairs statement released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). 

Two individuals, including a woman from Nagaland, were arrested in connection with the seizure. The bulk of the narcotic was seized from the unidentified woman’s Delhi house. According to the PIB release, the investigation has identified other operatives, including a suspected kingpin believed to be operating from outside the country, and wanted in a separate case involving a major cocaine seizure in Delhi last year. As per the release, the Nagaland Police also played a part in the seizure.

Preliminary investigations suggest the network used a system of couriers and safe houses, with Delhi serving as a central point for distributing the drugs both within India and to international markets.

In a post on X platform, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the NCB and Delhi Police for their coordinated efforts. Shah’s post read, “… The operation was a brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination to achieve PM Modi Ji's vision for a drug-free India. Congratulations to the joint team of NCB and Delhi Police.”
