DIMAPUR, JUNE 3 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, K Therie has demanded that the competencies of the Framework Agreement (FA) signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India be made “transparent if they are likely to impact Nagaland state boundaries and Nagaland people.”
“We want to make it clear to negotiating parties that Congress will not support blindly,” said the State Congress President in a press statement.
Reacting to a statement by MDPP legislator Imkong L Imchen on Assam Chief Minister and NEDA Chairperson, Himanta Biswa Sarma’s assertion that there is sufficient room for accommodating the NSCN (IM)’s demand on Flag and Constitution, Therie said that this “has raised new confusion in the minds of the people.”
“It looks like Flag and Constitution are tailed with competencies according to Imkong L Imchen. He further admitted he has not read the competencies,” the NPCC President said. He further noted that the Government of India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and State BJP President Temjen Imna Along “have made the GoI’s stand clear on the issue and also there is no change in the GOI’s stand.”
“When the Union Home Minister himself has made the stand of the GoI on the issue clear, how can the NEDA Chairperson give such an assurance? If there is room for accommodating these demands then what is withholding the GoI from implementing the solution?” Therie questioned. “The statement must be clarified clearly before the people to clear the confusion caused,” he added.
