Malaria elimination programme reviewed in Mon

Mon, May 13 (MExN): A district review meeting on National Center for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), Mon was held on Friday at the CMO conference hall, Mon.

Welcoming the participants, Mon Chief Medical Officer Dr Kechongol Sophie thanked the state monitoring team for their presence, a press release from the Media officer, Mon NHM, Leeyan Chemshy informed. The team was led by Dr Neisakho Kere, Joint Director and SPO NCVBDC; Dr Nitovi Shikhu, Deputy Director NCVBDC; Imsubenla State Public Health Consultant; and Ngangnenmongba Lkr, State Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant.

The meeting started with a presentation by Meiwang Konyak, District Vector Borne Consultant (DVBC) Mon, on current status of human resource under NCVBDC, Mon; the demographic profile 2022; programme indicators 2018-2021; implementation of LQAS (Lot Quality Assurance Sample); IEC/BCC activities carried out; supervision & monitoring, PSCM (Procurement Supply Chain Management) issues and performance of surveillance workers under the district.

As per the release, Dr Neisakho Kere stated that malaria cases may rise if surveillance workers (SW) and NCVBDC team stay inactive, while adding that malaria elimination cannot be done without going out on in the field. He added saying that malaria cases in the district has reduced as compared to the past two-three years. With that note, he encouraged the district NCVBDC team to keep up the spirit and work for the welfare of the society, the release stated.
