
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Police has arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly issuing death threats and derogatory remarks on Facebook.
According to a press note from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, a written complaint was received on September 24 from Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü, Advisor to the Naga Mothers’ Association, at the Cybercrime Police Station, Kohima. The complaint pertained to threats posted in the Facebook group “Unified Nagaland for Christ.”
Police said the accused, identified as Walonir Longkumer, was apprehended on the same day. Following the transfer of the complaint, a criminal case was registered at Diphupar Police Station under Sections 351(3)/79 BNS R/w 67/67A of the IT Act. Longkumer is currently in police custody and further investigation is underway.
The police reiterated that all threats, whether conveyed physically or via digital platforms, will be dealt with stringently under the law.
